Summer 2011: Oops, I graduated.
I haven’t posted to this thing in months. Not like anyone reads it, but sometimes I like to just make lists of things and write about stuff I did and am going to do soon.
So, in May I graduated from NYU’s undergrad Music Technology program. I’m still working at the studios there for the summer. Been looking for a real job and any freelance recording, mixing, and mastering gigs...

Swallow My Words, Taste My Thoughts: Bronx... →
mikestrikesback:
I’m not going to go into detail, because its not my place to do so, but an organization that I truly love and respect called The Bronx Underground needs your help. I’ve always had faith in the kids that come out to BXUG shows. Faith that they came out to shows regardless of the bands playing, but…
Please read this and help out. The Bronx Underground is essentially the reason I...

Real Talk.
I haven’t really posted anything other than demos here lately. I would like to address an amazing new album that I recently picked up, Man Overboard’s “Real Talk.”
Simply put, this record is fucking amazing. It consists of some of the simplest and most honest songwriting that I have ever had the pleasure of treating my ears to. This record is short and sweet (clocking in...

I am legal!
The last 2 weekends have been some of the best I’ve ever had in my life. Last weekend, my parents took me out to dinner but worked out a nice little surprise and my buddy Eric ended up coming along. Oh yeah, he got me a SNES. A SUPER NINTENDO, WHAAAA?! We literally played Mortal Kombat the whole night. Then the next day (my actual birthday) we hit the Chelsea Piers driving range and went to...
Birthday Weekend!
I’ve got some pretty cool projects underway at the moment. Currently writing another concept album (this one is way more serious than the one I wrote last summer about the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, I swear). Did some tracking in the studio with my buddy Mike Andronico yesterday for a sweet cover song, I won’t spoil the surprise. Played drums on an amazing live recording of Vanessa...

Enemy of the World.
So, it took me a few listens but I am now completely head over heels in love with the new Four Year Strong record. As far as major label debuts go, this is top notch. My initial reaction was to compare it to Rise or Die (not to any Set Your Goals releases like Alt Press tends to be doing and it’s really pissing me off). The two records are completely different.
In my opinion, the music on...
One month.
It just hit me that I will be turning 21 in exactly one month. Where did all that time go? I’m excited and all, but I’ll always miss being a little kid. I’ll never stop acting like one though.
The whole being legally able to obtain alcohol thing will be pretty cool, but I really don’t care so much about that as I will about being able to walk into a bar and just hang out....

Everytime I go on the Internet, I always see something posted about Lady Gaga looking annoying, or Kanye West doing something stupid, or some other beef that has no relevance to anything in the world. Will the planet implode if Kanye uses autotune? Possibly, but if the music sounds good, who gives a fuck? Whether or not it can be pulled off live without enhancement is another story. Let the music...

Super cold out.
I’ve been crazy busy getting back into the swing of class (I’m taking 7 classes and a guitar lesson), and starting my new internship at The Lodge (which is awesome!). The transition would be so much easier if the weather was a little more forgiving. However, the harsh weather got me thinking about how I associate the seasons with listening to certain bands or albums. For instance:

2010!
Happy New Year everybody!!!! Hope everyone had an awesome and safe night. Now that 2009 has come to an end, I can post my “Best Of” albums list. I’m gonna keep it short and only put 5 down.
5) A Day To Remember “Homesick” - What a good start to 2009 with this record coming out early on in the year. Making poppy parts even poppier and breakdowns even heavier, this...

Winter Break!
Winter break is in full swing….and by full swing I mean I’ve been playing guitar and video games all day. Hanging with some people who I haven’t seen for a long time, and going away next week on a cruise! I will post a Best of 2009 Album list in the next post. Have to deliberate.
Hope everyone has an awesome holiday season!
Happy Holidays! (light 'em up if you're Jewish).
I have received the gift of song from the one and only Michael Andronico. I feel like I’m back in high school and it’s awesome! Thanks buddy!
Good times.

Sometimes I wonder if every generation just thinks the music they grew up with is the best, or if what’s popular with young teens today really does absolutely suck. It amazes me how much has changed since I first fell in love with music. I’m not even 20, but the difference...
Review: "We Will Live Forever" The City Strikes...
Well, I can’t let my boy Mike review his own bands debut EP, so I’m gonna take the reins on this one.
If you’ve been scouring the desert looking for some good, honest, energy and hook driven pop punk, consider your search over. No, that’s not a mirage; it’s The City Strikes Back. This 4 piece from the Bronx has been at it for a little over a year, and “We Will Live...

Movie Trailer of the Day: First official teaser trailer for Samuel Bayer’s A Nightmare on Elm Street remake/franchise reboot.
The film, which stars Jackie Earle Haley as burn-victim-slash-slasher Freddy Krueger, is due in theaters April 30, 2010.

Current Projects.
1) Re cut a scene from Watchmen, replacing the dialogue, music, and sound effects. I am supervising the dialogue stem.
2) Finish editing The City Strikes Back.
Oh, and the new Paramore album is AMAZING. Dare I say, late submission for album of the year 2009?

BLINK!
Went to the Blink-182 show at Jones Beach on 8/25. OH MY GOD, this was easily one of the best shows I’ve ever gone to, if not the very best.
Chester French opened, eh, they were interesting, but not my cup of tea. Although, I do like when bands randomly cover a part of a song to lead into one of their own.
Next was Taking Back Sunday. They were pretty good, but I wasn’t extremely...
So, I’ve been in Los Angeles since last Friday. Done and seen and eaten some awesome stuff. In-n-Out, tons of Mexican food, a Japaense restaurant that makes you check your shoes at the door, tar pits, The Grove and Farmer’s Market. Disney today, San Diego tomorrow for the Padres game!
Home on Friday night!
New bands to check out!
So, while in the city stuffing my face at S’Mac and Max Brenners (a lethally delicious combination), I managed to find some time to stop at Barnes & Noble to pick up the new issue of AP. One blurb on the “Featured Unsigned Bands” page caught my attention, recommending a band to those who like both Hit The Lights and New Found Glory. I know what you’re thinking, chessy...

Bands I’m jammin’ lately:
Set Your Goals
The Swellers
Keep it real!
Gig Life!
Got back from Atlantic City on Sunday afternoon, rested for a few hours and then went to Gig Life at The Crazy Donkey with Mike and Heather. What a show. We missed the first band, Grave Maker, but caught the other 4. Here’s the rundown:
The Swellers: I think I heard of them maybe once before this show, and it never really stuck. But after seeing them, I had no choice but to come home and by...
Best few days ever.
So, basically from last Friday up until yesterday (Tuesday), has been the best time of my entire summer, easily.
Friday afternoon, I went into the city and to meet my sister for dinner and ran into some friends from high school in Washington Square Park. Hung around with them for a few minutes and then went to eat. Delicious. Next stop was the LIRR terminal near Penn Station to meet my friends...
Warped '09.
Yesterday I went to the Warped Tour 2009 stop in Long Island, and it was one of the best days ever. Not to mention that the night before I had a sweet time at karaoke and crashed on my friend Heather’s couch, but that’s another story.
The day started off with Hit The Lights, who I think I was most excited to see. I had already seen them in concert 3 times, and they just don’t...
I'm a brand name bought and sold.
Nothing Personal is really growing on me and I am starting to feel like an idiot for having the low expectations that I initially did. Granted, the iTunes bonus track, “Poison” is better than some of the songs that actually made the cut. I highly recommend downloading it.
I went to the driving range with my Dad today. My first time ever hitting golf balls in a non-mini golf situation....
Tumblweed.
Haven’t posted in a while. Haven’t been all too busy lately.
Did some guitar tracking with The City Strikes Back yesterday at Little Door Studio. After some amp problems, Julio threw down his leads so hard and came up with some sick parts on the fly. Then Mike came in and doubled his rhythms is NO TIME at all. The kid is a machine.
Picked up All Time Low’s “Nothing...
