Went to the Blink-182 show at Jones Beach on 8/25. OH MY GOD, this was easily one of the best shows I’ve ever gone to, if not the very best.
Chester French opened, eh, they were interesting, but not my cup of tea. Although, I do like when bands randomly cover a part of a song to lead into one of their own.
Next was Taking Back Sunday. They were pretty good, but I wasn’t extremely pumped to see them. I’m not so high on them since Fred left the band. They needed 2 guitarists just to compensate for that loss. Adam Lazzara should concentrate more on singing than almost killing everybody around him with the microphone.
Weezer put on one hell of a show! Rivers Cuomo is easily the coolest person on the planet! He ran all over the place, rolled on the ground, and even attempted to play the intro to “Island In The Sun” on every instrument and have it loop over in the background. That plan failed because it wouldn’t loop to which he said: “The rock gods are not smiling on me tonight”. I would pay good money to see them again!
THE MAIN EVENT: Blink-182
They haven’t missed a beat in all the years of their absence. If anything, they’ve gained a step or two. They played tighter than any of the live bootlegs I’ve heard from, well any tour of theirs. They pulled out all the old favorites from “Josie”, to “What’s My Age Again?”, to “Feeling This”. I flipped out when they pulled out “Man Overboard”, that was just so unexpected for me. So good. More dick jokes than anyone could ever wish for in one sitting.
They stayed together for the kids.
