I’ve been crazy busy getting back into the swing of class (I’m taking 7 classes and a guitar lesson), and starting my new internship at The Lodge (which is awesome!). The transition would be so much easier if the weather was a little more forgiving. However, the harsh weather got me thinking about how I associate the seasons with listening to certain bands or albums. For instance:
Blink-182 is one of the most perfect summer bands ever. There isn’t much quite like listening to “Enema of the State” on a hot summer day while laying out on the beach. Same with New Found Glory’s “Sticks and Stones.” It’s almost inexplicable, there’s just something that feels right about it.
Motion City Soundtrack is perfect for cold, snowy weather. Maybe it’s because the guys are from Minnesota, but once again it just feels right.
Alkaline Trio is a great and fitting soundtrack for a dark stormy night, preferably “Good Mourning.” I recall a night in high school, doing homework while sitting in my kitchen and listening to a newly borrowed copy of the aforementioned album. The sky outside was eerily dark, but I found comfort in the horror movie setting. Senses Fail is also good for these occasions.
Just some random thoughts.
