I haven’t really posted anything other than demos here lately. I would like to address an amazing new album that I recently picked up, Man Overboard’s “Real Talk.”
Simply put, this record is fucking amazing. It consists of some of the simplest and most honest songwriting that I have ever had the pleasure of treating my ears to. This record is short and sweet (clocking in at just above a half hour), leaving you longing for more. No complicated guitar parts, or deeply metaphorical “play on words” lyrics. Just brutal honesty and great energy.
I hate to throw labels around and categorize bands, but this is what pop punk is supposed to sound like. Most bands out there are doing it wrong. After the first listen, this became one of my favorite records of 2010, coming in at a close second behind the only album of it’s kind that could possibly best it, “The Upsides” by The Wonder Years.
Pick it up. Real Talk.
